The Foundation has been established by supporters to promote the club, to strengthen the bonds between the club and the community and to encourage the club to take proper account of the interests of its supporters and of the community it serves in its decisions. We aim to support the concept of democratic supporter involvement and representation in the club. The Foundation is also a community benefit organisation. It is here to build bridges between the community and Edinburgh Rugby and to use the power of rugby for the good of the community. We are a not-for-profit organisation and we are therefore the perfect partner between club and supporter. The Foundation needs you, the supporter, to make it a success.

FAQs

Back To FAQ ListWhat is the Edinburgh Rugby Foundation?
Edinburgh Rugby Foundation (ERF) is a non-profit making organisation for the benefit and promotion of both Edinburgh Rugby and rugby at all levels in the local community. We are working alongside Supporters Direct which is an organisation that has vast experience in helping and advising rugby and soccer clubs in the UK in running their own trust funds. ERF was the first trust of its kind in Scotland supporting rugby.
Back To FAQ ListWho owns it?
The ERF is a membership organisation and is owned by all of its members, One member = One vote. The ERF is wholly independent of the SRU and Edinburgh Rugby and money donated by the ERF can only be for purposes dictated by the ERF
Back To FAQ ListHow is it run?
ERF is run by a democratic board elected by ERF members at the annual general meeting. All board members are volunteers and any member can nominate themselves for election at the AGM.
Back To FAQ ListWho are the board and what do they do?
The trust board are made up of volunteers. They organise the AGMs and ensure that the ERF abide by the constitution. They also organise any recruitment drives and fundraising events and ensure that the money raised from these is spent on appropriate causes.
Back To FAQ ListIs this the same thing as the Supporters Club?
The Supporters Club is about doing things for Edinburgh Rugby supporters. The ERF is about what supporters can do for Edinburgh Rugby and community rugby in general in the Edinburgh area. Each organisation has its own constitution that sets out its role and function and so we believe that the Trust and Supporters Club will provide complimentary benefits for the club's supporters and ultimately the club itself. The Supporters Club fully supports the aim of the ERF
Back To FAQ ListHow can I get involved?

Very easy – join up. If you are already a member encourage friends, family and work colleagues to join. The more members the Trust has the more of a voice it will have. So please anybody else who has an interest in seeing Edinburgh Rugby continue to exist at the highest level possible to get involved

The Trust is run entirely by volunteers. The more people that are prepared to volunteer their time to help organise fundraising or advertising, the more the Trust can grow - and the more the Trust grows the bigger its influence. We are currently looking for help with fundraising so please contact the board.

The ERF are seeking ways of supporting mini, midi, school and youth rugby throughout Edinburgh and the East of Scotland. If you have any suggestions of worthy causes please contact the board.

Back To FAQ ListHow does the Trust help the community?
As well as providing an avenue through which supporters can donate practical help and money to local rugby, the Foundation also hopes to act as a magnet for support from local companies who are keen to support community activities. While the final use of the funds is for members of the Foundation to decide, possible examples include funding either the pro team or local clubs to support player development or community activities or the purchase of equipment for junior teams or schools.
Back To FAQ ListWhat's in it for me?

The aim of ERF is to raise supporter influence in the running of Edinburgh Rugby. We aim to strengthen bonds between club and supporter and to represent the interests in the community in the running of the club. Funds raised will be utilized as the supporters, through the Board, see fit. We are not established to come to the aid of a financially ailing company and funds raised will not be applied to this effect. Each member has one vote and as big a say in the running of the organization as any other. We aim to benefit the rugby community by encouraging the Club to take full account of the members served by it though a professional vibrant organization that is fully regulated by the FSA.

Back To FAQ ListHow will it raise money?
As well as raising money through the membership fee we also plan to hold a 50/50 draw at every home match. Last year proved a great success - costing 50p for a ticket, 50% of the proceeds go to the lucky winner drawn at half-time and 50% to the ERF we raised around £1,000 last season. We also aim to run at least two major fundraisers per season.
